I did not like X-Men: The Last Stand. As a result, I entered X-Men Origins: Wolverine with my mouth sour from the waste-of-a-movie the third installment was. This new film will disappoint fans, as it was too quick and the end seems pushed. X-Men Origins: Wolverine is the story of everyone's favorite claw-wielding, scowl-giving and unshaven superhero prior to his spandex days with Jean Grey, Cyclops and Storm. It tells the story of Logan, a man with a special ability and his half-brother, Victor Creed. The story follows Wolverine's path of revenge, and creates several surprises along the way.

The highlight of the film is the action. There are some great scenes, from the brilliantly-created opening-credits to the climactic finale on Three Mile Island. Director Gavin Hood had a great understanding how to use Wolverine's abilities on screen and created great action sequences. Hugh Jackman is back, once again, in the role that made him famous. Although he is older, he can play Wolverine better than anyone else. The film also does a good job bringing in big characters from the X-Men universe, giving them depth, as characters from Deadpool to Cyclops are included, along with surprises that. I guarantee Gambit's appearance will be talked about for years. He was the most enjoyable aspect of the movie.

The movie has too much action and altogether too forced. It is a fun distraction for an hour and a half in the summer, but looking in perspective, it seems too quick.

As a result, the plot is very disjointed. The viewer get the basics but does not fully understand what is going on. The film tries to draw you in with several plot twists, but the revelations are made so quickly you may find yourself lost halfway through. As the plot suffers, so does the dialogue, as Wolverine is still not the smoothest talker in Hollywood and spent a modest 70 percent of the film growling.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a good start for the summer movie season, but don't be expecting any depth as you are walking to the cinema. It is loud and drifty, but provides a story that not only sets up the life of Wolverine, but also the entire X-Men series. It is a good prequel, a good summer popcorn movie, but the quickness halts a film that could have been more if it slowed down.
