••Letter to the Editor••

On April 25, 2012

Dear Editor,

I've written to The Stylus before when I felt the concepts written in "On The Sly" were irresponsible or dangerous (e.g. revenge sex and drunken sex). The Wednesday, April 18 column simply makes me sad.

I'm sad that the image of the college as put forth in The Stylus contains  a perspective of sexuality that is both shallow and distorted. I'm sad for high school students  who reject Brockport - missing a wonderful experience - because they perceive a stronger moral climate exists elsewhere. I'm sad for the many people who work hard to recruit the best students for Brockport, whose efforts are undermined when this material gets an elevated platform. I'm sad for other Stylus writers who write articles on important and worthy issues - such as the page 23 article on body image. Mostly, I'm sad for the many students  I know, work with and truly admire, who say "This isn't who I am ... this isn't my Brockport."
