The 2012 fall comedian, booked by BSG, will be actor, author and comedian Jamie Kennedy.

As College at Brockport students ate free Jimmy Z’s garbage plates during the Thursday, Oct. 4 Thursdays in the Square event, Brockport Student Government (BSG) announced the fall comedian.

Jamie Kennedy will come to Brockport and perform Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 9:30 p.m. The event will take place in the Union Ballroom.

Kennedy is an American comedian and actor. He has acted in popular films like Malibu’s Most Wanted and Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle.

His stand-up comedy routines were televised in the 2002 show The Jamie Kennedy Experiment.

Few know that Kennedy is also an author. He wrote the book Wannabe: A Hollywood Experiment.

The book detailed Kennedy’s life early in his career before he became successful.

“Jamie Kennedy was chosen because he won our student survey,” said Nick Morticelli, the programming chair for BSG. “He won by a big margin.”

Kennedy won the survey with 358 votes. In second place was comedian Jeff Ross, with 335 votes.

Kennedy will perform a stand-up routine for about an hour.

Prior to his performance there will be an opening act that Kennedy is bringing.

Morticelli said in the next few weeks BSG will give students the chance to win a meet and greet session with Kennedy after his performance.

Tickets went on sale Tuesday, Oct. 9 for $1.

Students can purchase up to two tickets, one for the student and one for a guest. There will be 750 tickets available for purchase.

Morticelli said all proceeds from ticket sales will go toward either a scholarship in memory of Brockport student Alexandra Kogut, or to her family to help with funeral expenses.

“We just wanted to help out anyway we could,” Morticelli said. “It hasn’t been decided where the money will go exactly. We know funerals are expensive and we just want to help out as much as possible.”
