One of the most anticipated fall shows, 2 Broke Girls premiered on CBS Monday Sept. 19. The show's current time slot is 9:30 p.m. on Monday nights after Two and a Half Men, but it will eventually move to 8:30 p.m. following How I Met Your Mother. Annoying laugh track aside, the show has originality and heart and is worth 30 minutes of your time.

Kat Dennings (Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist) plays Max, an experienced waitress who works at a shady diner in Brooklyn. Dennings is known for her sarcastic humor and comedic timing and doesn't disappoint in the pilot episode of this budding series. Max is a no-nonsense girl who tells it like it is.

The show begins with Max working in the restaurant alone because her co-worker was fired for having sex in the cooler on the job. While working, two hipsters make the mistake of snapping their fingers at Max for assistance, which doesn't go over well. She, not so politely, tells the intolerant patrons what manners are in a borderline-crude fashion. Max finishes her rant by stating; "You think this is the sound that gets you service? I think this is the sound that dries up my vagina."

Next, Max's boss Bryce Lee, formerly Han Lee (he changed his name to be "taken seriously") informs her that there is a new waitress. Enter Caroline, played by Beth Behrs, a former rich girl who is now forced to support herself. She hasn't worked a day in her life and it's pretty obvious.

After a long night of waiting tables, Caroline comes up with a scheme to overcharge for the cupcakes Max makes and pocket the difference to make a little extra money. Then, Max heads home to her boyfriend, Robbie, whose band "practices" by listening to music instead of playing it and Max finds out Caroline sleeps on the subway so she takes sympathy on Caroline and brings her to the apartment to crash.

While Max is at her other job, Robbie hits on Caroline, causing a rift in the new friendship. Max storms off before her shift begins to go to the apartment to catch Robbie cheating with one of his band mates. Luckily, Max is smart enough to kick Robbie out, and decides to make Caroline her new roommate.

The show also introduces Chestnut, Caroline's horse the two girls stole back from Caroline's boarded-up town home. I'm not sure where Chestnut will fit into the show, but it was good for a few laughs. The two bond while drinking Starbucks on top of an uninterested Chestnut while discussing possibly opening their own cupcake business.

The show ends with text that says, "Current Total: $387.25" meaning that they are working toward the $250,000 for the cupcake business. The plot for the rest of the show seems predictable at this point, but thanks to an array of quirky characters, there's bound to be some laughs along the way.
