Glow Fest's noise violates village code

Residents of the Village of Brockport flooded Monroe County's 911 Center with complaints Saturday, Aug. 28, as the noise generated from the on-campus event Glow Fest traveled beyond the boundaries of the college. State funding for SUNY in steady decline

Unexpected changes and serious cuts to SUNY's 2010-11 state operating budget are making the college administration work with an ever-decreasing budget. Brockport officials say they are trying to minimize the effect on students. However, 30 full-time equivalent staff positions were cut from the 2009-10 academic year to the 2010-11 academic year.

Field hockey starts season 1-2

With two tough tests on the road, the field hockey season at Brockport is underway. This year, the primary objective is improvement, with a dream of winning a conference championship within reasonable distance for the Golden Eagles. Brockport started the season 1-2 with a 1-0 loss to Houghton, followed by a weekend series in Massachusets for the Springfield College Tournament.

Football falls to Fisher

The Golden Eagles dropped its first game of the season Saturday Sept. 4 against nationally ranked St. John Fisher. The Cardinals' quarterback Tim Bailey tied the school record for touchdown passes with five as Fisher cruised to a 55-12 victory. "We made too many mental errors and mistakes," senior fullback Pat Hashey said.

Men's soccer takes two of first three

The Brockport men's soccer team has a bulls-eye on it back after capturing their first SUNYAC championship since 1978 last season. The title defense is already off to a strong start as the Golden Eagles have already defeated Cazenovia and Ithaca. Confidence is running high for the soccer team.
